Oil & Acrylic on Canvas... 60x80cn - 2004
This is a painting of my student and her sister - commissioned by their father as a gift for their mother - he has given her white orchids since they have known eachother, thats why i painted white orchids... (symbolizing their family)- the backround developed out of using very thin washes of acrylic and letting it drip over the canvas before starting the painting. The Portraits are done in Oil.... i painted on this painting so freggin' long - i was going to for something that no one else could understand... thats the way it is sometimes... but i feel like i accomplished what i wanted... i just read recently in 'The Art Spirit' by Robert Henri (at least i'm pretty sure it was there - if not, get the book, is very inspirational!)- that a painting or a piece of work is finished when the artist has accomplished that what he/she was seeking to accomplish.... |
