Oil & Acrylic on Canvas... 60x80cn - 2004
This is a painting of my student and her sister - commissioned by their father as a gift for their mother - he has given her white orchids since they have known eachother, thats why i painted white orchids... (symbolizing their family)- the backround developed out of using very thin washes of acrylic and letting it drip over the canvas before starting the painting. The Portraits are done in Oil.... i painted on this painting so freggin' long - i was going to for something that no one else could understand... thats the way it is sometimes... but i feel like i accomplished what i wanted... i just read recently in 'The Art Spirit' by Robert Henri (at least i'm pretty sure it was there - if not, get the book, is very inspirational!)- that a painting or a piece of work is finished when the artist has accomplished that what he/she was seeking to accomplish....
this is so beautiful, their eyes are so enchanting and its as if everything else disapears for a moment. it looks as if they are offering up the orchids. definately a
Wow! I love it... it has an old master feel to it, especially the pose. The clarity of the eyes and the skin tones are incredible. This should be hanging in a gallery of fine arts, and may be some day!

I love the technique you used for the background. The way the colors are reflected in the white shirt make it look almost shear but not quite, almost like silk. The shade of blue you chose for the blonde girl's eyes and necklace is beautiful, and the necklace makes the eyes stand out more. Very nice.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
