'Fata Morgana' means mirage.... this painting is done in oil and tempera (Mischtechnik) on canvas 200x130cn (approx 6x3.5feet)... i started it in 2001, and finished it a year or so ago.... is one of three lifesize nudes that i painted... maybe i'll post the others at some point... this is a portrait of someone i know, it's not a fantasy painting although that is incorperated... i created the pose, the sceneray etc to try and add to her as a person as i have experienced her... in quite dramatical settings... i painted the figure mostly from life, using some photo's as reference at different phases...

Everything about this painting is stunning. I'm most impressed by the realism added by the gold trim of the cloth and the epic background. The pose is extremely poetic. What I love the most about this piece is how rich in meaning it is from anyone's point of view.

Incredibly beautiful painting. Before I zoomed in to full size view I could have sworn the ocean was in the background somewhere, then I full viewed and realized the background is actually dried, cracked earth which gives the piece a totally different feel, beautiful but somewhat sad, or maybe hopeful that there is life beyond the barren realm she lies in. I still swear there is a tiny bit of ocean in the distance of the background :) Absolutely gorgeous!

WOW! This is truly impressive and beautifully done. To me your time spent on this is well spent thus a masterpiece. This says alot for I'm not a huge fan or nude art.

So many things about this blow my mind.
~That it is done in acrylics and oil
~That is is life sized
~That is is actually someone that was *there*...a real model, not just pictures
~That you said that you painted her as you experienced her.

It is beautiful! The shadows and highlights are very well done and were the first thing to really catch my eye besides the bright hair. And the clouds are gorgeous!
